Theresa Campbell-Hanson
Theresa Campbell-Hanson, 94, of Dubuque, died Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Asbury.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory, followed by a Moose Prayer Service at 6:30 pm.
The Funeral Service for Theresa will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory with Deacon Mike Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.
Theresa was born June 19, 1931, at the family farm in Five Points, IA, the daughter of Peter and Alvina Wilwert Stoffel.
She married William E. Campbell on June 23, 1951, at the Naval Chapel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They shared 40 years of marriage before William’s death on June 28, 1991. Theresa later married James W. Hanson on November 22, 1999, at the Church of the Nativity in Dubuque, Iowa. James preceded her in death on July 14, 2016.
In her earlier years, Theresa worked at Neisner’s Department Store and Kresge’s Department Store as a window trimmer and “sign girl.” She later worked at Penny’s Parlour, Ione’s Pastime Bar, and then the Shot Tower Inn for 25 years.
She was a member of the Church of the Nativity, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary for 45 years, and the Moose Lodge for 55 years. Her involvement with the Moose Lodge was especially meaningful to her, and she remained an active and dedicated member throughout her life.
Survivors include four sons, Jim (Debbie) Campbell of Two Harbors, MN, John (Tina) Campbell of Dubuque, Dave Campbell of Dubuque, and William Campell of Dubuque; one daughter, Kim (Mike) Pettit of Gays Mills, WI; 11 grandchildren, Jessica (Jesse) Wartman, Michaela (Andy) Graham, Nathan Campbell, John W. Campbell, Jeremy (Crystal) Campbell, Holly Campbell, Willie (Katie) Campbell, James Paradiso, John Paradiso, Jessica (Jim) Dreier, and Dawn (Anthony) McMillan; 15 great-grandchildren, Carley, Alexis, and Taylor Wartman, Ethan and JC Campbell, Cali Bockenstedt, Kylee (P.J.) Connolly, Bentley and Blake Campbell, Alivia and Jase Paradiso, Madilynn, Izabella, and James Dreier, and Caroll Hopkins; one great-great-granddaughter, Oakley Mae; and one sister, Joann Klein of Dubuque.
Besides her first husband, William, and her second husband, James, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Kollin Campbell, her parents, five brothers, Leonard (Agnes) Stoffel, Merlin (Germaine) Stoffel, Francis (Gertrude) Stoffel, Bernard Stoffel, and Arnold Stoffel, one sister, Rosemary (Don) Ploessl, one brother-in-law, Ray Klein, and a very special friend, Mary L. Biggins.
A memorial has been established for Mooseheart Child City and Hospice of Dubuque.
