Dale M. Mangers
Dale Maurice Mangers, 92, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Stonehill Health Center in Dubuque, Iowa.
A wake service will be held at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, followed by a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, with Rev. Martin Coolidge officiating. Burial will take place in the Church Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by the Iowa Army National Guard.
Dale was born June 11, 1934, in Nebraska, the son of William and Eleanor (Gilles) Mangers. He served in the United States Army during the Cold War in Germany from 1956 to 1959 and served six more years for the Iowa Army National Guard. Dale married Mary Butlett on November 24, 1956, at St. Patrick’s in Dubuque, she preceded him in death on September 7, 2017. He worked for the Dubuque Packing Company for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers, Local 150A.
He loved to fish and hunt, especially pheasants and morel mushrooms. Dale was a true outdoors man and self-appointed “Mayor of Massey.”
Dale is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Rick Brewer) Frommelt, and Julie (Mike) Ritt; daughter-in-law, Kim Mangers; grandchildren: Nikki (Gary) Ostrander, Jessica (Tom) Mangers, Steven (Sarah) Mangers, Michael (Ashley) Mangers, James Mangers, and Jasmine (Trevor) Hingtgen; 17 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and sister, Alice Schnoor.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mary; his parents; a son Dave; siblings: Mildred Kueter, Bernadine Amling, William Mangers, Esther Goedert, Katherine Mangers, and Josephine Mangers.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Stonehill Health Center for their exceptional care of Dale.
