James Donatsch
James “Jim” Donatsch, 75, of Dubuque, passed away July 28, 2026.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00p.m., Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road, Dubuque, where memorial services will immediately follow at 6:00p.m. with Rev. Stephanie Ells officiating.
Jim was born on June 11, 1951, in Dubuque, IA to Elmer and Pearl (Gottschalk) Donatsch.
He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School.
Jim lived his life his way. He enjoyed bowling and farming and was quite fond of all kinds of animals. He was a great neighbor and a friend to all he met. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting and catching up with friends.
Jim was a member of Bread of Life Presbyterian Church.
In his free time, he loved cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes – especially the Women’s Basketball team.
Jim is survived by his sisters, Judy (Donald) Schuster of Dubuque, and Jean (John) Sutherland of Cottonwood, AZ; nephew, Doug (Marie) Schuster of Asbury; and niece, Dawn (Steve) Potts of Durango. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Dubuque Regional Humane Society, Bread of Life Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice.
Jim’s family wishes to extend a thank you to a neighbor and good friend, Brian Hodgson, for his friendship and support for Jim over the last several years. Also, thank you to the Centralia Fire and Rescue team especially Brian Recker, as well as the Dubuque County Sheriffs Dept. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
