Jeanette M. Weis
Jeanette M. Weis, 84, of Maquoketa, and formerly of Springbrook, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa.
Jeanette M. Weis was born on October 11, 1941, in Jackson County, Iowa, to Oris and Isabelle (Portz) Weis. She grew up in Springbrook and attended school there, where she formed the values of hard work, faith, and family that guided her throughout her life.
She devoted 46 years of her life to her work at Ensign Corporation in Bellevue. Her long career reflected her strong work ethic and commitment, and she was respected for the dedication she brought to her job year after year.
Jeanette was a lifetime member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Her faith was an important part of her life, and her church membership reflected the deep connection she maintained to her roots and her community. She also found joy in simple pleasures, especially baking for family and loved ones. Among her favorite recipes were her cookies and angel food cake, which became cherished family favorites.
Those left to honor to her memory include her siblings, Roger Weis of Cuba City, WI, Marilyn Weis of Maquoketa, IA, and Eloise (Alan) Mohr of Maquoketa, IA; niece, Susan Buss; and nephews, Sylvan Weis, John Weis, Nathan Weis, Warren Weis, Dean Weis, and Justin Mohr. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 14, 2026, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Visitation will be held prior to the mass on Friday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:25 A.M., at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Jackson County, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
