Danielle A. “Buffy” Weinschenk, 57, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Care Initiatives in Mechanicsville, Iowa, after a private and courageous battle with cancer.

Danielle Ann Daniels was born August 12, 1969, at the Jackson County Hospital in Maquoketa to Norbert Keith and Emilie Ann (Miller) Daniels.  She was better known as “Buffy”, her nickname she received at the hospital when she was born that stayed with her all her life.  She graduated from Maquoketa High School with the Class of 1988 and later received her associate’s degree from Clinton Community College.  Buffy married David Weinschenk on September 20, 1997, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook, Iowa.  To this union a daughter, Kiah Ann Weinschenk, was born.  They later divorced but remained good friends.

Buffy worked detassling corn and Spain’s Dairy Treat in her younger years.  She did fill in work at Cardinal Elementary School and KJ’s in Maquoketa following graduation.  She later worked for Iowa Bank in Bellevue, Iowa, and as manager for U.S. Cellular in Maquoketa.  Buffy liked decorating her house, crafts, anything that was the color purple, and music, especially “Freebird” by Lynard Skynard.

Buffy is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter Kiah (Dillon) Embree of Maquoketa; her mother Emilie Daniels of Maquoketa; her sisters Angela Milder and Noreen Daniels; her ex – husband David Weinschenk; her niece Montana Lafrenz; and her dog Chester.

Buffy was preceded in death by her father Norbert Daniels; infant brother Darin Keith Daniels; maternal grandparents Edward Floyd and Inez (Dallagher) Miller; paternal grandparents Leslie and Mavis (Baker) Daniels; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

At Peace Cremation services were provided by Carson Celebration of Life Center, Maquoketa, Iowa.  Due to Buffy’s wishes a private family burial will be held at a later date.
