Joan M. Frith

Joan Marie Frith, 94, of Dubuque died peacefully, Wednesday, February 19, 2025, surrounded by her family.  Visitation will be from 1 to 4 pm Sunday, February 23 at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 4pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday, February 24 at Holy Spirit Parish-Sacred Heart Church.  Burial will be in Mt. Joan was born March 20, 1930, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Clem and Madelyn (Theisen) Schadle.  On September 16, 1950, she married the love of her life, Eugene Frith at Nativity Church.  He preceded her in death on December 18, 2023.

Before her retirement, Joan worked in housekeeping for 23 years, mostly Stonehill Care Center.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish-Sacred Heart Church.

Joan had a contagious smile and enjoyed playing cards and traveling. Her faith and her family were the most important things in her life. She also enjoyed water walking.

She is survived by six children, Eugene (Toni) Frith III of Weslaco, Texas, Michael (Julie) Frith of Wildwood, Missouri, Gary Frith and Lynn (Steve) Schmitz, both of Dubuque, Mark (Cathey) Frith of Walker, Iowa and David (Darlene) Frith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; ten grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings and their spouses, Don and Lori Schadle and Betty and Tom Delaney and a grandson, Adam.

The family would like to thank the nurses, staff and volunteers at Hospice of Dubuque for their wonderful, loving care.
