Marion C. Fleege
Marion C. (Ames) Fleege, 98, of rural Hazel Green, WI, passed away with her daughters by her side on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green.
Family and friends may call from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024 at St. Joseph Church, 780 County Rd. Z, Sinsinawa, WI, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Peter Auer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Marion was born on October 2, 1925 in East Dubuque, IL, the daughter of Edward B. and Catherine M. (Riemenapp) Ames. She was united in marriage to Harold C. Fleege on November 14, 1946 at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque, IL. They had nearly 78 incredible years of marriage together. Marion died of a broken heart 7 weeks following Harold’s death on August 8, 2024.
Marion was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and baker. She was known for her variety of pies and her Angel Food cakes which she made from scratch. She was a 77-year member of St. Joseph Church, and the CCW. Marion formerly worked in the Hot Lunch program at St. Joseph School where she known for her cinnamon rolls and variety of desserts. She never turned down a card game regardless of day or night! Marion and Harold loved to go square dancing and they never missed a chance to dance to her brother Fritz’s band, the Country Kings at the Royal Palace in Galena. Later years at the Elmo Supper Club and Coach-N-Four.
Surviving are her five daughters, Ruth (Eldon) Sear of Asbury, IA, Sharon (John) Brandt and Linda (Russ) Helbing, Cuba City, Wi, Mary (Tom) Werner of Galena, IL, and Doris (Mike) Hayes of East Dubuque, IL; 10 grandchildren, Rob (Amy) Droessler, Eric (Joy) Brandt, Melissa (Dave) Fichtinger, Carrie Tellevik, Katie (Chad) DeRosier, Tina (Troy) Marine, Heather (Craig) Roth, Keith (Chelsea) Hayes, Nicole (John) Hayes-Austin, and Jennifer Hayes; 15 great-grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis “Fritz” (Pat) Ames of East Dubuque, IL, sister-in-law, Mary Carol Guerdet, Dubuque, IA, brothers-in-law, Virgil Splinter, Platteville, WI, and Jim Schulting, Black Earth, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, son-in-law, Lenny Runde, step-grandson, Jeff Sear, siblings, Marge Beadle, Mabel Schmitt, Barb Splinter, and Rosie Schulting, in-laws, Eileen Rojemann, Irma Spahn, and Don Fleege.
The Miller Funeral Home of East Dubuque, IL is assisting the family.
