Nick A. Freiburger
Nick A. Freiburger, 46, of Dubuque, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 26, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of being humble and hardworking, a man filled with integrity, professionalism, and loyalty to his loved ones and clients.
Nick was born July 30, 1980, in Dubuque, the son of Wayne and Donita (Jaeger) Freiburger. He was a devoted NASCAR fan, cheering especially for Jeff Gordon and Denny Hamlin. He loved hockey and was a season ticket holder for the Dubuque Fighting Saints and proudly wore a team jersey. Throughout his life, Nick took great pride in family activities especially the 4th of July. He was the consummate grill master for his family and friends. His strong sense of patriotism was on full display.
Nick was just 8 years old when he started working with his dad in the lawn business. He treasured the time spent with his dad that helped him become an entrepreneur for the rest of his life. He was a proud owner and operator of Mow-n-Snow for the past 21 years. Nick took great pride in his work and built close, meaningful relationships with his clients – a trait he learned from his dad. Nick was a tremendous human being who was well liked by many and will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and the lasting connections he made with all those around him. His final act of kindness was the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
Nick met the love of his life, Kelsey Geraghty, 24 years ago, and they were united in marriage on November 13, 2021, in Dubuque. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with Kelsey, whose love meant so much to him. He valued the unconditional love of their two goldendoodles, Archie and Olie. Like children to him, they held a special place in his heart, and their wagging tails greeting him at the door after a hard day’s work.
Survivors include his wife, Kelsey Freiburger; his mother, Donita Freiburger; four siblings, Holly (Tony) Freiburger, Heather Freiburger, Joey Freiburger, and Andy Freiburger all of Dubuque; father and mother-in-law, Dennis and Juli Geraghty; brother-in-law, Nate Geraghty; and several nieces and nephews. Nick was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Freiburger, and his maternal grandparents, Joseph C. Jaeger and Eileen K. (Manders) Jaeger, and paternal grandparents, Irvin F. Freiburger and Alberta M. (Errthum) Freiburger.
Nick’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kyle Brauhn, Nick’s employee, for his hard work and friendship. They would also like to thank Nick’s loyal clients for their continued support and for the many expressions of appreciation for his hard work, dedication, and competence throughout the years. The kindness and respect shown to Nick are deeply appreciated and will always be remembered by his family.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory. A Prayer Service will be immediately following with Deacon Jim Luksetich officiating.
