Steven G. Jaros, 75, of Scales Mound, IL, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at MercyOne in Dubuque, IA. In keeping with his wishes, a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena is assisting the family.

Steve graduated from Highland Park High School and later attended trade school, where he followed his passion for electrical work. He was a lifelong member of IBEW Local 134 and was proud of his work and the many friendships he made through the union.

On June 21, 2008, Steve married his wife, Jackie, in Napa Valley, California. They had a very special wedding ceremony in a hot air balloon above the vineyards. Steve and Jackie shared many wonderful years together and enjoyed life side by side. Steve loved the outdoors. He was an avid bow hunter and took great pride in being a tree farmer. He enjoyed spending time on his land, caring for his trees, and being surrounded by nature. Steve will be remembered as a loving husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie, of Scales Mound; his stepmother, Rose Melander; his stepchildren, Tony Acevedo and his wife, Laura, of Ft. Polk; Raquel Murphy and her husband, Kevin, of Evanston; and David Acevedo and his wife, Ale, of Chicago. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Raven, Sophia, Lillian, Cillian, Cara, and Jayden; his sisters, Bev Taylor and MJ Hodgins; and close family friends Tom and Pam Walsh and their sons, David, Dan, and T.J., who were like family to Steve.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Jaros, and his mother, Alice Melander. Steve will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his love of family, the outdoors, his work, and the many people whose lives he touched.
