Patricia L. Metcalf

Patricia Lyn Metcalf, 67, of Asbury, died Friday, July 1, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Funeral Service for Patty will be 11:30 am Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

Patty was born October 13, 1954, in Des Moines, the daughter of Charles J. and Idalou D. Kisor LeRette. In 1999, she married Dale M. Metcalf at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA.

She attended Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, IL and graduated from Fremd High School in Palatine, IL. She received her teaching certificate from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, IA.

She was a teacher at Eisenhower, Sageville, and Carver Elementary Schools for 35 years before retiring in 2010.

She attended Grandview United Methodist Church. In 1992, she began her calling of caring for 63 foster children until 2009, when she and Dale adopted #63 completing the family. She loved the color pink, her kitties, and poodles. She especially loved her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Dale; one daughter, Tiffany (Brian) Cue of Dubuque; two sons, Brent (Sarah) Phillips of Dubuque, and Robert Metcalf of Asbury; four grandchildren, Ethan, Samantha, Estella, and Brianna; and one sister, Susan Gunther of Asbury.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother-in-law, Stephen Gunther.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Dubuque County Humane Society.

The family thanks the Care Team at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for taking special care of Patty.

Adelaide M. Lechnir

Adelaide M. Lechnir, 87, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the Galena Stauss Senior Care Community.

Services will be 12:00 (Noon) on Monday, July 11, 2022, at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque.  Burial will be in the Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque

Family and friends may call from 9:00 – 11:45 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Adelaide was born on May 5, 1935, in Prairie Du Chein, WI, the daughter of Alva and Adella (Brown) DuCharme. She was a graduate of Prairie Du Chein High School, the class of 1953.  Adelaide was united in marriage to John “Jack” Lechnir in 1960.  He preceded her in death in January of 1997.

Jack and Adelaide operated the Swiss Inn in East Dubuque since 1983. She was a professional artist doing oil painting along with her sister, Janelle for Hruska-Kray Studios. She and Janelle loved to travel. Adelaide was also a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan.

Surviving are five children, Rick (Moni) Lechnir of Germany, Deb (Dave) VanOstrand and Dave (Barb) Lechnir both of East Dubuque, Scott (Suzanne) Lechnir of Colorado, and Jeff (Donna) Lechnir of Surprise, AZ; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alvin DuCharme of Sonul, CA, Lucille Walters of Prairie Du Chein and Marilyn Vance of Cincinatti, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Adella, a grandson, Jason Wanke, and her siblings, Albert DuCharme, Lloyd DuCharme, and Janelle Westerfield.

Chloe M. Lucas

Chloe M. Lucas, 17, of Dubuque, Iowa gained her wings and was called home to eternal paradise with her best friend Kennedy Elskamp on July 1, 2022, the result of an automobile accident.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5th, 2022, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where a family wake service will be at 2:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6th, 2022, at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church.   Private family burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Chloe was born on December 4, 2004, in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Lisa Renfrow-Lucas and Jon Lucas.

She attended Carver Elementary School, Washington Jr. High and was going to enter her senior year at Dubuque Senior High School. She enjoyed playing softball and was a member of the Senior High Cheerleading Squad.  She recently was in the Macy’s Day Parade in New York with the cheer squad.  She received her CNA certificate from Senior and wanted to move forward with a career as a neonatal nurse.

Chloe loved to dance, go on family vacations, be with her friends and Tik Tok, she enjoyed shopping and had a great fashion sense, she was sassy and classy. She enjoyed going to the gym with her friends and she could talk to anyone.

Chloe brought a smile to everyone’s face and had a contagious laugh; she will be dearly missed by so many who loved her.

She is survived by her parents Lisa Lucas and Jon (Tess) Lucas; her siblings Sean (Mary) Keller, Austin (Ali) Keller, Brianna (Richard Bartell) Lucas, Connor (Mia Hodgson) Lucas, Leah Scharpf, Kayden Lucas and Ethan Brown. Grandparents Mike and Sandy Lucas, Vayla Renfrow; step grandparents James and Charlie O’Meara and Robert and Cynthia Schlichting. Aunt and uncle Jenny Lucas and Jeff (Jessica Zeller) Lucas; along with many aunts uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Kennedy, Cece, Clara, Abbie, and Greg.

She was preceded in death by her great grandparents Larry and Ruth Green, Mike and Cecilia Lucas, Ray Renfrow and Velma Renfrow.

In lieu of flowers a Chloe Lucas memorial fund will be established.

Kennedy E. Elskamp

Kennedy Elizabeth Elskamp, 17, beloved and cherished daughter of Tony and Lisa Elskamp (Kot) and loving sister to Carter, gained her wings and was called home to eternal paradise with her best friend Chloe Lucas on July 1, 2022, the result of an automobile accident.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 7, 2022, at St. Joseph Key West Church from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where a wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8th at the Church of the Nativity with Rev. Rodney Allers officiating. Burial will follow St. Andrew Parish Cemetery, 101 Church St. in Tennyson, WI.

Kennedy was born on June 28, 2005, to proud parents Tony and Lisa Elskamp and joyful grandparents Kathy and Gary Elskamp and Darlene and John Kot.

She became a big sister in 2009 when her brother Carter was born.  Kennedy loved spending time with her family on vacation, camping, and had many special memories with her grandpa (Papa) Gary, who was waiting for her at the gates of Heaven.

Her other favorite activities included shopping for deals, going to country concerts, and being with friends.

She was deeply loved and had many special times with her aunts and uncles: Julie and Larry Bies, Andy and Kimberly Elskamp, and Thresia Elskamp, and cousins: Addison and Chase Bies, Elizabeth, Emma, and Drew Elskamp, and Becky and Adam Stroube. Her special friends Chloe, Cece, Clara, Abbie, and Greg.

Kennedy was beloved by her family, friends, and many classmates. She was bright, caring, and thoughtful and brought much joy to the lives of those who love her. For those who knew Kennedy, they knew the love she had for her mom. They were the best dynamic duo ever.

The family would like to thank the Dubuque Fire & EMS along with the Dubuque Police and Sheriff Dept. for all their care, kindness and compassion. They especially want to thank all their family, friends, neighbors and the community for the outpouring of support during such a difficult time.

Garry L. Jorgensen

Garry L. Jorgensen, 80, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, June 30, 2022 at home.

A celebration of Garry’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

Garry Lee Jorgensen was born on November 5, 1941, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Alvin and Arlene (Luett) Jorgensen.  He grew up in Maquoketa and was a 1960 graduate of Maquoketa High School. He then attended Iowa State University in Ames where he graduated in 1965 with a degree in Forestry and a minor in Civil Engineering.  He married Lucinda Mae Wood on June 11, 1965 in Delmar, Iowa.

Shortly after his marriage to Lucinda he accepted a job in Forestry in Halfway, Oregon.  After working in Oregon for two years he was drafted into the Army.  Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Iowa where he worked for the City of Dubuque in the Engineering Department for many years until retirement.  In retirement, he worked for Crescent Electric for several years.

Garry was a member of the Bellevue American Legion Post #273.  He loved being outdoors whether it be canoeing or kayaking locally or in the boundary waters, riding his bike during RAGBRAI many times, snow skiing in Colorado, Vermont, and Minnesota, or just sitting and relaxing by the firepit.  He loved being in nature and the outdoors.  He also enjoyed wildlife, especially feeding the birds.  He was a kind and good man and the best friend and husband anyone could ask for.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lucinda Jorgensen of Bellevue, IA; a sister, Linda (Jerry) McCoy of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother-in-law, Paul Petrik of Fairfax, IA; 2 nieces, 1 nephew; 3 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Bonnie Petrik.

Shiela M. Dunn

Shiela M. Dunn, age 80, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Cedar Rapids, IA, completed her earthly journey on June 30, 2022, at Stonehill Care Center, surrounded by her family.  To honor Shiela, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 12:00 noon-3:00 p.m. at 16375 Rustic Forest Trail in Dubuque.  Family and friends are invited to join for food and fellowship in memory of Shiela.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Shiela’s family.

Shiela was born February 27, 1942, in Greeley, IA, to Donald and Donna (Duffy) Smock.  She was raised to have a strong work ethic, and had a natural gift for organization and love for numbers which she carried throughout her entire life.  Shiela began her education in a small Edgewood-area country school, culminating in her graduation in 1960 from Strawberry Point High School.  She married her high school sweetheart, Gerald (Jerry) Dunn, on July 1, 1961, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Greeley, IA. The couple was blessed with many loving years together, along with one beautiful daughter, a wonderful son-in-law, and two deeply adored granddaughters.  Shiela began her working career with Great Plains Gas Company, then moved into a bookkeeping and managerial position with Cedar Rapids Transfer & Storage, where she served in a vital capacity for 37 years. Her work years ended with her retirement from Hummer Trucking in 2008. Shiela and Jerry moved to Dubuque in 2012 to be closer to family, spending winters in Mesa, AZ, until 2020.  Shiela was a courageous and outgoing soul, whose commitment to hard work served as an inspiration to everyone around her, especially her daughter and granddaughters.  She also had a great sense of humor, and a love of traveling with family and friends.  But Shiela’s greatest joy would be found in time spent with her husband, her family, and her beloved dogs.  For all of them, her love was literally endless.  It is with great sorrow we must say farewell to her bold and bright spirit.  The legacy of her character and personality are evident in the lives of all who knew and loved her, though she leaves behind an abundance of memories to help heal the pain of her departing.  Thank you, Shiela, for always leading by example, may you find peace from your earthly battles until we all meet again.

Pilar Garcia

Pilar “Chic” Garcia, 87 of Galena, IL and formerly Chicago passed away June 28, 2022. A celebration of life will be held from 2 – 6 PM, Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Galena Territory Owners Club, 605 Territory Dr, Galena, in room A of the upper level. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family.

He was born January 23, 1935, in Elgin, TX the son of Pilar Sr. and Rita (Pena) Garcia. Chic grew up in Chicago and spent most of his life there. He retired from Ryerson Steel after forty-two years. Chic was a proud teamster member of local IBT #705. He moved to Galena with his wife of forty-five years Margaret to live in the Galena Territory for their last hurrah. His favorite pastime was fishing right up until his heart condition.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, six sons, James (Pat), Joe, John (Bonnie), Jeff, Jack (Paulette), Jerry (Chara), one daughter, Christine (Darren) McNealy, twenty-two grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren, siblings, Ruben “Able”, Irene Garcia-Piccolo, Esther Bereckis, and Daniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Mary Sharres, Gloria Knezivich, Rudolph “Rudy,” and Noe “Tony.”

Theresa A. Huinker

Theresa A. Huinker, 81, of Dubuque, died Thursday, June 30, 2022, at her home.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM.

The Funeral Service for Theresa will be 10:00 am Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Word of Life Church, 4450 Dodge St. with Pastor Loren Hirschy officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Key West.

Theresa was born November 3, 1940, in Dubuque, the daughter of Joseph Leo and Theresa Olivia Schaeffer Wille.

She worked in the service department at Eska Company, was a parts manager at Air Cooled Engines, and also worked at Roeders Outdoor Power. She retired in 2006.

She was a member of Word of Life Church where she was very involved. She was a faith filled person. She was always a giving person.  Always focused on her family, she cherished her grandchildren and will be remembered fondly as an excellent cook.

Survivors include three sons, Joe (Tina) Huinker of Oshkosh, WI, Dan (Lisa) Huinker of Dubuque, and Dave (Elaine) Huinker of Dubuque; one daughter, Julie (Mike) Berendes of Whitestown, IN; nine grandchildren, Chris, Austin, Trevor, Ellie, Nate and Matt Huinker, Sam, Jackson, Sawyer, and Owen Berendes; one great-grandchild, Brady Huinker; two brothers, Joe (Annie) Wille of Garnavillo, IA, and Ed (Agnes) Wille of Holy Cross, IA; two sisters, Mary Hampton of North Andover, WI, and Rita (John) Lansing of Dyersville, IA; and one brother-in-law, Herman Phillip of Idaho Falls, ID.

She is preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Bernice Phillip, Clara (Stanley) Moser, Dorothy (Keith) Schmelzer, Sr. Josanne Wille FSPA, Nell (Harold) Pruess, two brothers, Ray (Laura Ann) Wille, and Ted, in infancy, and brother-in-law, Walter Hampton.

Our family would like to thank MercyOne Cancer Center, specifically Dr. Holm and Nurse Jenny for their compassion and care throughout our mother’s treatment. A special thanks to Hospice of Dubuque. They helped her live a quality of life she would not have had without them. Fist pumps to Nurse Chris W. who she loved instantly, social worker Amber, Nurse Amy and Jessica, Peggy etc. And thank you to Dr. Chris Stille, whom she adored, and his staff.

Robert J. Armstrong

Robert J. Armstrong, 83, of Dubuque, died Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Luther Manor in Dubuque.

There will be no visitation or services.

Bob was born August 20, 1938, in Dubuque, IA. On June 13, 1965, he married Barbara Mary Muenster at Holy Trinity Church in Dubuque.

He was a 1967 graduate of University of Wisconsin.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corps in 1956 at the age of 17 and served until 1959.

He was a budget analyst for John Deere for 28 years, retiring in 1992. After retirement, he served as President of the A.Y. McDonald Credit Union.

Survivors include his wife, Barb; two sons, Brad (Anna) Armstrong of Tampa, FL, and Aaron (Shannon) Armstrong of Dubuque; and six grandchildren, Brandon, Ashton, Eagon, Dawson, Jack, and Eve.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary.

David E. Hartman

David E. Hartman, 87, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on June 26, 2022, at home after a brief illness surrounded by his family.

To celebrate his life family and friends may visit from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday July 2, 2022 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jay Ilten officiating. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.

David was born on July 2, 1934 in Dubuque County, Iowa. He was the son of Earl and Bernadine (Duschen) Hartman. David was united in marriage to Lois J. Rubie on April 14, 1956 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Dubuque, Iowa and they were blessed with 66 years together.

David was a farmer all his life and also worked at Metz Manufacturing, the Dubuque Packing Company and for Packer Sanitation. After retiring he enjoyed attending auctions and flea markets. He liked the simple things in life especially putting together jigsaw puzzles, doing sudoku, playing solitaire and cracking walnuts.  He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

David is survived by his wife, Lois, 3 children: Ronald (Ellen Wolfe) Dubuque, Iowa; Nancy (Keith Stocks) Dubuque, Iowa; and Robert (Linda Capesius, friend) Durango, Iowa, 6 grandchildren: Greg (Sarah) Hartman; Brian (Jerica) Hartman; Holly (Patrick) Bries; Jennifer Stocks-Candelaria (Tim Candelaria); Andrew Stocks, and Kimberly (Josh) Rizkowsky and 12 great- grandchildren Lydia, Olivia, Ava, Layla, William, Hailey, Tyler, Cora, Quinn, Hazel, Leah, and Nicole and one on the way. He is also survived by 1 brother LaVern (Mary) Hartman, a brother-in-law Fred (Doty) Rubie and 2 sisters-in-law Jean Rubie and Gerda Hartman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Walter Hartman.

John R. Distler

John Robert Distler, 72, of Scales Mound, IL, passed away at home on Monday, June 27, 2022.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the Miller-Steinke Funeral Home in Scales Mound, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 (Noon) on Tuesday, with Rev. Libby Rutherford officiating.  Burial will be in the Scales Mound Twp. Cemetery.

John was born on January 15, 1950, in Hazel Green, WI, the son of John S. and Delores M. (Wullweber) Distler.

Johnny enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed teasing his great-nephews and great-nieces. He loved farming with his brother, Ron.

Surviving is his brother Ronald (Liz Randall) Distler of Scales Mound; two nephews, Nicholas (Kelsie Koester) Distler and Nathan (Danielle) Distler all of Scales Mound, a niece Melissa (Chris) Wachter of Elizabeth, IL; a step-niece, Bethany Randall of Platteville, WI, and a step-nephew, Jacob (Tamara)  Randall of Vancouver, WA; his great-nephews, Derrick, Levi and Austin Distler, Ian Wachter and Weston Koester; his great nieces, Ella and Rori Distler, Anna Wachter, Lilli Valentino, Kinzley Koester and Lyla Randall.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Donna Mae (Distler) West and her husband, Everett “Sonny” West.

Geraldine L. Nolting

Geraldine L. (Grant) Nolting, 91, of Bellevue, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Mill Valley Care Center.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue.  Family will greet friends 9:00 am until services at the church also on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.  Burial will be in the First Presbyterian Cemetery in Bellevue.  Eastern Star Services will be prior to visitation at the church.

Geraldine was born October 31, 1930, the daughter of J. Clifford and Mavis (Reed) Grant.  She graduated from Preston High School in 1948.  Geraldine married Loren A. Nolting on August 22, 1950, he passed on January 8, 2017.  She was a homemaker and worked at the First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue.  Geraldine and her husband raised chickens and was involved in egg production, donating eggs for many years for the church’s Sunrise Easter Breakfast.  She was a member of the Bellevue First Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School and Youth Fellowship for 13 years and also helped quilters at church, active in Eastern Star for 70 plus years serving as Grand Rep, a member of the Daughters Of the Nile, and was a member of the Preston Garden Club for many years, enjoying growing Gladiolas.  Geraldine was also active in the 4-H food committee, Boy Scouts Den Mother, and Girl Scout Leader.  She loved making things on her knitting machine and made many quilts over the years and enjoyed sharing them with her family.  She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Dennis (Vicki) Nolting, Cheryl (Dale) Horan, Dean (Doris) Nolting, and Cindy (Dan) Christoffel; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gerald (Marvel) Grant; and numerous nieces and nephews; and extended relatives.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Ryan Horan; a daughter in-law, Colleen Nolting; siblings, Verana (Robert) Johnson, and an infant brother, Little John; brothers in-law, John (Christine) and Wayne (Arlene) Nolting.

A memorial fund has been established in Geraldine’s memory.

Walter D. Wertzberger

Walter David “Fritz” Wertzberger, 87, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on June 28, 2022.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30th, 2022, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 3:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022 at St. Joseph Key West Church with Rev. Rodney Allers officiating. Private family burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Walter was born on November 28, 1934, in Camden, New Jersey, son of Cyril and Margaret (Joyce) Wertzberger. He attended Loras Academy in Dubuque. On August 31, 1957, he married Carolyn Theisen at St. Donatus Catholic Church in St. Donatus, Iowa. Walter was a farmer and took great pride in working the land for most of his life. He also worked at the Dubuque Packing Co. He had strong work and family values and did whatever it took to support and provide for his family.

Walter was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Elk’s Lodge in Dubuque. He was also an 80-year member of St. Joseph Church in Key West, having also served as an usher. He loved to play card games, especially pinochle and euchre.

He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Carolyn; children Don (Maureen) Wertzberger of Dallas, TX and their children Riley and Dylan, Dan (Wendy) Wertzberger of East Dubuque and their children Angie (Ron), Jody and great grandchildren Emily, Kaleb, and Charlie, Jim Wertzberger of Peosta, Ann (Kevin Welty) Wertzberger of Dubuque, Amy (Kevin) Connolly of North Liberty and their children Katie (Jeremy) and great grandchild Grayson, Lizzy (Mitchell), Caroline (Garett) and great grandchild Tyson, and Tommy, and Jay (Christi) Wertzberger of Dubuque and their children Evelyn, Sam, Amelia, and Violet; and brother Carl (Stacey) Wertzberger; sister-in-law Marilyn (Cy) Ploessl; and brothers-in-law Dick (Pat) Theisen and Paul (Bonnie) Theisen.

He was preceded in death by his parents Cyril and Margaret, brothers Art (Rosalie) Wertzberger and Richard (Stella) Wertzberger, and in-laws Erwin and Gertrude Theisen, sisters-in-law Mary Ann (Orlyn) Till and Mary Theisen.

Mildred Izetta Shaw

Mildred “Millie” Izetta Shaw, 91, of Cedar Rapids, formally of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids in Cedar Rapids.  She was born in Delhi, on April 15, 1931, the daughter of Charles and Juanita (Bartlett) Vesey. Millie graduated from Delhi High School in 1949.

On June 2, 1951, Millie was united in marriage to Don Shaw in Oceanside, California. Four children were born to this union. Millie was a wonderful homemaker and mother. Millie and Don moved to Florida in 2001 where they made their home until moving to Cedar Rapids in 2011.

Millie enjoyed golf, travel, knitting, coloring, playing cards and enjoyed quilting. She was very proud of being on the All-State Girls Basketball Team. Millie most of all enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her four children, Donalyn (Larry) Pogue of Independence, Randy (Leanne) Shaw of Oviedo, Florida, Lori Corey of Cedar Rapids, and Doug (Pam) Shaw of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Waldrep of Cedar Rapids; and two sisters-in-law, Marsha Russ of Manchester and Beverly (Bob) Davis of Delhi.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don Shaw in 2012; and her eight siblings.

Ronald M. Seay

Ronald M. Seay, 69, of Grimes, IA formerly of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on June 21, 2022 at Taylor House in Des Moines, IA.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2nd, 2022 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a memorial service will be at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Dianne Grace officiating.

He was born in Aiken, MN to James & Velma (Parker) Seay.

Ron graduated from Dubuque Senior High in 1971.  He later received his Tool & Die and Mold Makers Certification.

He married Tammy Herting on May 20, 1988 at the Dubuque Arboretum & Flower Gardens.

Ron started his career at Uelner Tool & Die, worked at John Deere in Dubuque and finished his career at General Industries in Marysville OH working in the plastics molding industry.

Ron was one of the founding members of Philippians II.  He served in the homeless ministry for several years before relocating back to Iowa.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Tammy; sons Jeff Hovind of Lima, OH, Jason Seay, of Grimes, IA and Matthew Seay, of Mt Pleasant, IA.  Their granddaughter Elizabeth and grandson Markus, whom Ron & Tammy adopted in 2020. His brothers, Paul Seay and Ray (Belinda) Seay, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents James & Velma Seay, brothers, Jim, Mack, Don, Phil and his sister Ann.
