Sharon M. Fischer

Sharon M. Fischer, 73, of Earlville passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 am Saturday, January 27, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville where a Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11 am. Rev. Dennis Conway will officiate.

Sharon was born June 8, 1944, in Dundee, Iowa the daughter of Louis and Frances (Bergfeld) Hildebrand. She graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School. She married Francis Fischer on May 31, 1965, in Earlville. She worked as a clerk at various area businesses.

Survivors include her life-long friend, Walter Heisler of Bankston, a sister-in-law, Wilma Hildebrand, of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews: Deanna Hanson and Jayne Hildebrand both of Cedar Rapids, Christopher (Joelle) McCallum of Yankton, South Dakota, Judy (Tom) Kramer of Freeport, IL and Barbara (DuWayne) Grutt of Marquette, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francis in 2016, siblings, Robert Hildebrand and Imogene (Christopher) McCallum, a niece, Denise Glubka, and in-laws, Arnold (Anita) Fischer.

Lulumay Tate

Lulumay Tate, 82, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1:30 P.M., Monday, January 29, 2018, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Burial will be at the Elwood, Iowa Cemetery.

Lulumay Soenksen was born on February 14, 1935 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Eugene and Berniece (Hamilton) Soenksen. She was a 1954 graduate of Elwood High School. She married Elnord “Al” Isacson. He preceded her in death. On November 9, 1995, she married Charles “Frank” Tate in Mesa, Arizona. He also preceded her in death.

Lulumay grew up in Elwood and moved to Mesa, Arizona for 46-1/2 years where she worked for the Mesa Lutheran Hospital in the kitchen department for 30 years. She moved back to Maquoketa in 2001.

Lulumay had been a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club. She enjoyed spending time with friends and relatives, playing cards, dancing, and traveling.

Those left to honor her memory include a daughter, Elnora Egbert of Mesa, AZ; brothers, Harvey Soenksen of Maquoketa, IA, and Wally Soenksen of Maquoketa, IA; 4 grandchildren, Kristina, Tiffany, Steve, and Ryan; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces, Jean (Randy) Springer of Maquoketa, IA, and Kimberly Blake of Dubuque, IA; and 5 great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al, and her husband Frank, 1 sister Beulah, 1 infant brother, and 6 sisters-in-law, Thelma, Laurel, Ruby, Virginia, Opal and Betty Sue.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Lulumay Tate memorial fund has been established.

Roger Harold Tigges

Roger Harold Tigges, 82, was called to his heavenly home on January 23, 2018.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27th, 2018 at the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Andrew Marr officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding just prior to the start of mass. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is assisting with arrangements.

Born in Dubuque, IA on June 28, 1935, Roger was the ninth of ten children born to Oscar and Josephine (Linden) Tigges. Roger married Stella Kamm on June 18, 1955, at St. Patrick’s Church and they lived in Dubuque for the last 63 years, where they raised a family of ten children. Roger was dedicated to his wife and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Through his younger days he had paper routes, worked at Diamonds Cafeteria in his high school days, Sears Roebuck for about a year, and General Dry Batteries. Roger spent a semester at Bayless Business College. He established a 35-year career at Universal Electric Supply where he achieved his dream of becoming an owner. He also served the community as a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters 330 Club and as a Lector and Commentator at Holy Ghost.

Roger’s big personality with a witty pull-my-finger sense of humor will be surely missed. He loved playing cards (especially dominating family euchre tournaments), bowling, Bingo, “barber shopping” with SPEBSQSA, his daily walks, and attending morning mass. He loved being with his wife and grandchildren; especially their trips to Chicago Cubs games, going to the park, and “our ride to the airport”. Two of their most memorable trips were when Stella and Roger went to Alaska and Niagara Falls with some members of their family.

Roger is survived by his wife Stella; his daughters: Nancy (Dale) Manders, of Bernard, IA., Theresa Biermann, of Dubuque, and Wendy (Neil) Aitchison, of Dubuque; his sons: David (Rose) Tigges, of Orland Park, IL, Terence (Elizabeth) Tigges, of Davenport, IA, Timothy (Poon) Tigges, of Johnston, IA, Gregory (Diane) Tigges, of Manor, TX, Kevin (Judy) Tigges, of Dubuque, and Wayne (Hiroko) Tigges, of Milwaukee, WI; his grandchildren: Stephanie (Andy) Huber, Matthew Edwards, Christina (Nathan) Edwards, Joshua (Jennie) Tigges, Nicholas (Renee) Tigges, Sarah (Brian) Goodwin, Terence Tigges, Jr., Harmony (Lopez) Tigges, Ryan Tigges, Troy Tigges, Melissa (Corey) Schulz, Ashley (John) Garde, Corinne (Nick) Huber, Daniel Perry, Benjamin (Laine) Tigges, Megan Tigges, Nichole Aitchison, Mark Aitchison, Elizabeth Tigges, Emily Tigges, and Rebecca Tigges; his step-grandchildren: Christopher Johnson Sr., Shawna Colvin, and Michael Aitchison; his great-grandchildren: Kayden Tigges, Maxim Huber, Jacob Tigges, Katherina Tigges, Bryson Goodwin, Jaxen Tigges, Sean Tigges, and Henry Utt; his step-great-grandchildren: Caleb Goodwin, Seth Goodwin, Chris Johnson Jr., Jack Colvin, Riley Colvin, Adrian Colvin, Caleb Gingerich, Ian Johnson, and Jace Aitchison; and his sister, Joan Klaas.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannine Perry; his parents, Oscar and Josephine; his brothers: Oscar Jr., Wilfred, Gerald, and Arthur; his sisters: Martha, Elaine, Marlene, and Catherine; and great-grandson Adam Lopez.

Bernard F. Loecke

Bernard F. “Ben” Loecke, 93, of Worthington, Iowa, passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Klein Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Ben may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Services for Ben will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington, with Rev. Dennis Conway Presiding. Burial will be held in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Worthington, Iowa with full military honors afforded by the Cascade American Legion Post #528.

He was born January 14, 1925 in Dyersville, Iowa, son of Frank and Mary (Noethe) Loecke. He received his education in the St. Paul’s schools in Worthington. On May 30, 1949 he was united in marriage to Joan Wolfe. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2014. He was an electrician and owned the Loecke Feed store. He also farmed in the rural Worthington area.

In retirement he resided at River Bend Assisted Living in Cascade from July 2014 to March 2017. He resided at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington from May 2017 until his passing.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially deer hunting for 62 years. He truly had a passion for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is a World War II veteran, having served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific front and was part of the occupation force in Japan.

He was a member of the Cascade American Legion Post #528, the Worthington Sportsman’s Club, the Catholic Order of Foresters. He served on the St. Paul School Board as a member and President. He was a member of the Worthington Volunteer Fire Department, for which he served as Chief for many years. He was also a member of St. Paul’s Parish in Worthington and its Altar and Rosary Society, where he also served as usher.

He is survived by three children, LuAnn (Bob) Glaser of Burlington, Robert Loecke of Cedar Rapids, and William (Kim) Loecke of Mt. Vernon; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Glaser-Koehler of Des Moines, Nick Loecke and Vanessa Loecke Naber both of Cedar Rapids, Tony Loecke of Mt. Vernon, Ben Glaser of Chicago, IL, Allie Loecke Pearson of Farmington Hills, MI, Cassandra Loecke Pudenz of Waukee, and Melissa Loecke Rose of Petaluma, CA; 12 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way; his seven siblings, Doris Tucker of Manchester, Ruth Heims-Welch of Pahrump, NV, Walter Loecke and Rose Ann Krogman both of Manchester, Marian Peters of Delaware, David Loecke of Manchester, and Angela Harris of MN.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Verna Mae Roling; and a brother, Ralph Loecke.

Ben enjoyed the staff and his friends at River Bend Assisted Living. The family is sincerely grateful for the loving care Ben received while living at Great River Klein Center.

Barbara R. Wertheimer

Barbara R. Wertheimer, 72, of Dubuque passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at home. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Barbara was born March 13, 1945 in California, daughter of Robert and Virginia (Musacchia) Freeman.

She married Mark Wertheimer on June 27, 1977 in Anaheim, California.

She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband and was a thoughtful and loving mother and mentor to her children to whom she imparted her love of athletics, music and the arts.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Mark Wertheimer of Dubuque; three children, Natasha Wertheimer of Oconomowoc, Wisc., Melissa (Kevin) Pittner of Glenview, Ill., and Matthew (Cameron) Richmond of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Reilly; Grace and Nora; and Cameron, Shelby and Isamu.

She is also survived by her siblings, Arlene Hussey, David Miller, Cathy Miller, and Cheryl Miller and her step-father, Wayne Miller.

The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Anthony J. Faulhaber

Anthony J. “Tony” Faulhaber, 79, of Dubuque, Iowa entered peacefully into his eternal home on Monday, January 22, 2018 at home with family by his side.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be held at 4:30 p.m. with Deacon Bill Hickson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Tony was born on October 21, 1938, the son of Henry and Melita (Krier) Faulhaber. He married his High School sweetheart Carole Frommelt on September 19, 1959. Tony worked at John Deere for 30 years retiring in 1990.

He had many hobbies but his most treasured one was gardening, he loved beautiful flowers. He was an accomplished woodworker, who made beautiful hutches, end tables and cabinets. Tony had special writing skills having had two poems published. He was always well versed and ready to talk current news and politics with anyone.

Tony was diagnosed with Parkinson’s after he retired but he remained as active as he could. He loved to ride his “scooter” up and down the streets of Alpine Park visiting with all the neighbors.

Tony loved to learn all he could from his iPad and enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and going out to dinner.

He is survived by his loving wife Carole; his daughter Laura (Billy) Murphy, and their son Jayme (Calla) Murphy. Sons, Steve Faulhaber, Ken Faulhaber and Jeff (Judy) Faulhaber and their children, Colin, Jesse and Lanie. His sister, Mary (George) Sharkey; brothers, John (Rose) Faulhaber and Jim (Jill) Faulhaber; brother-in-law Rick (Joan) Frommelt and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Cassy Murphy.

Our deepest thanks to Dr. Liaboe and his nurse Trish for their loving care of Tony all these years.

The family request no flowers. Memorials may be given to ARC or Hospice of Dubuque.

Rex I. Lightle

Rex I. Lightle passed away peacefully on January 16, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Rex was born December 8, 1942 in Griggsville, IL. to Phyllis and Ted Lightle.

He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1961 where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Rose Ann Beau. They were married for 53 years.

Rex was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was very proud of his service. Rex attended the Art Institute of Chicago and the Kansas City Art Institute before he started his career as a graphic designer. Among the companies he worked for were WDAF and Valentine-Redford. Rex worked as a Senior Graphic Designer at Hallmark Cards for 27 years before retiring.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Toni.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann, 2 children, Kimberly Staples (Kevin), Tara Barnes (Michael) and 4 grandchildren, Ali Staples, Emily Staples, Maddie Barnes and Kate Barnes. He is also survived by two brothers, Gary Lightle and Richard Lightle.

Rex enjoyed creating a beautiful yard, spending time with his family, playing cards, and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. One of his favorite things to do was exploring the country on long road trips and making friends with everyone he met.

The family would like to express our appreciation to the staff at Johnson County DaVita Dialysis for their loving care and attention. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation.

Glenda M. Reinert

Glenda M. Reinert, 75, of Sherrill, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Stonehill Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 25, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill, where friends may greet the family from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Friends may also greet the family from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 5131 Sherrill Road. Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Glenda was born July 12, 1942, the daughter of Glenn and Gladys (Adrian) Orcutt. She graduated from Guttenberg High School and went on to graduate from Dubuque Beauty School. Glenda owned and operated Orcutt’s Beauty Shop, and became the wife of Raphael Reinert on September 1, 1962. They became parents of Lisa, Chris, Renae, and Juanita, making the family complete. In March of 1964, they moved onto the family farm.

While the family was growing up, Glenda taught religion class (2nd grade) for 15 years, and was a leader for the Peru Achievers 4-H Club for 14 years. After moving from the farm, she worked at Bethany Home in Dubuque, retiring at age 70.

Glenda’s family always meant so much, and she made sure to remember everyone with birthday cards and gifts. She loved to sew, embroider, cook, and write out Christmas cards and letters. Her family and friends were her support in fighting breast cancer and bone cancer.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Raphael; four children, Lisa (Steve) Klein of Dubuque, Chris (Tina) Reinert of Dubuque, Renae (Dennis) Schueller of Durango, and Juanita (Kevin) Soppe of Sherrill; 8 granddaughters, Shelly, Nicole (Justin), Hannah, Ashley, Rachael, Shannon, Hailey, and Emily; 4 grandsons, Dan, Kyle (Stephanie), Matt, and Brett; one great grandson, Parker; her sister, Karen (Gerald) Kennicker of Millville; her siblings-in-law, Charles (Delores) and Frank (Bev) Reinert, both of Dubuque, Peter (Betty) Reinert of Hazel Green, WI, Bernard (Lori) Reinert of St. Louis, MO, Catherine Orman of San Rafael, CA, and Molly (Mike) Murray of Olney, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings-in-law, John (Margie), Tony (Pauley), and Joe (Karel) Reinert, Mary (Paul) Noesen, Lucy (Ken) Donovan, and Sr. Paul Clara and Herman Reinert.

Jeana M. Simon

Jeana M. Simon, 33 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 25, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa with Rev. Michael Schueller Presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.

She was born March 13, 1984 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Robert L. and Connie F. (Augustin) Simon. She received her education in the St. Joseph’s school in Keywest and attended Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta. She was employed as a Lab Technician for Dairy Lab Services in Dubuque. She had a great love for all God’s creatures great or small. One of her greatest joys was spending time on the farm milking the cows and spending time with her many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her parents, Connie Simon (and friend, Jay Williams) of Keywest, IA and Robert “Bob” Simon (and friend, Fern Ritter) of Lewiston, MN; her siblings, Janelle (Kurt) Hess of Sherrill, IA, Robby “Duke” (Nichole) Simon of Dubuque, Joni (Don) Ritter of Lewiston, MN, Randy “Buck” (Elley) Simon of Dubuque, IA and Jessalyn (Michael) McDermott of Farley, IA; her maternal grandparents, Don and Dorothy Augustin of Dubuque, IA; her nieces and nephews, Taya and Morgan Hess, Mackenzie Simon, Corey, Carley and Brandon Ritter, Jack, Madelyn, Ruby, Stella, and Kipton Simon, Sydney McDermott, Evelyn Jarding, Amelia and Eleanor McDermott, and along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and her beloved cat, Lenny.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ralph “Whitey” and Evelyn Simon and a nephew, Carter Simon.

John D. Staggs

John D. Staggs, 59, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Dubuque, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, January 23 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road, where sharing of memories will begin at 6 p.m.

John was born on June 8, 1958 in Maquoketa, Iowa the son of Douglas and Juanita (Sagers) Staggs.

He was employed as a pit boss at various casinos.

He enjoyed fishing but sports were his passion. He loved all Chicago teams. Da Bears! Spending time with his friends and family were very important to him.

He is survived by his children, Hollie (special friend, Kevin Diesing) Lay, of Japan and Jeramy (Lindsy) Hennessy, of Urbandale, Iowa; grandchildren, Aryana and Aaliyah Lay and Adrian, Kalob and Arabella Hennessy; mother, Juanita Staggs; siblings, Christal (Richard) Fury, Steven Staggs, Jamie (special friend, Ron Link) Woolf, James (Susan) Staggs, Jacqueline (Mike) Merfeld, Jodi (special friend, Bill Collins) Bryson, and Judi Staggs; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Staggs.

Frances C. Davidshofer

Frances C. Davidshofer, 84, of Dyersville, Iowa and formerly of Worthington, Iowa died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Dyersville, Iowa.

Services for Frances will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Worthington, Iowa with Rev. Dennis Conway presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.

Frances was born on March 29, 1933 in Dyersville, Iowa, Daughter of Herbert and Frances (Kremer) Benn. She received her education in Dyersville and graduated from Xavier High School in 1951. On April 21, 1953, she was united in marriage to Walter Davidshofer at the Basilica St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Dyersville, Iowa. Walter preceded her in death on December 26, 2014.

Frances enjoyed living on the farm and raising her eight children. She planted a large garden and worked beside her husband to provide for her family. She enjoyed sewing, baseball, reading, playing cards, Bingo and watching her family grow.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Parish in Worthington.

She is survived by eight children, Ann (Larry) Lee of Manchester, IA, Mary (Luke) Oberbreckling of Mechanicsville, IA, Karen (Doug) Loney of Epworth, IA, Ken (Renee) Davidshofer of Earlville, IA, Bill (Ann) Davidshofer of Lisbon, IA, Peter (Lori) Davidshofer of Dyersville, IA, Christy (Scott) Deutmeyer of Worthington, IA, and Sandy (Scotty) Krogman of Dyersville, IA, 24 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; three brothers, James (Margie) Benn of Dubuque, IA, Louis (Ruth) Benn of Manchester, IA and George (Linda) Benn of Dubuque, IA; two sisters-in-law, Gwen (Jim) Schmitt and Carol (Mike) Lundergan both of Dyersville, IA; one brother-in-law, Leo (Joyce) Davidshofer of Dubuque, IA.

Lynden C. Marshall

Lynden C. Marshall, 81, of Sherrill, passed away Friday, January 19, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, at Sherrill United Methodist Church, 5501 S. Mound Rd., Sherrill, where friends may greet the family from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Emily Blue will officiate. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Friends may also greet the family from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque.

Lynden was born July 11, 1936 in Price, Utah. He served his country with the U.S. Navy, where he met the love of his life, Jeanne Schepple. Lynden and Jeanne married on December 16, 1963.

He was employed with John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement. Lynden enjoyed fishing, gardening, and working in the yard. He loved having pets around, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears.

Lynden is survived by his wife, Jeanne; two children, Mike (Kelley) Marshall of Dubuque, and Corenna (Joe Golden) Marshall of Sherrill; grandchildren Matthew, Danielle, and Stephen Marshall, Matt Jackson, Cord Marshall, Ryan and Crystal Hefel, and Angelique Kelly; several great grandchildren,including Christian Marshall and Carter Kelly; and his brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jude A. Herrig

Jude A. Herrig 44 of Dubuque passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital. Prayer Service will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service 3860 Asbury Rd. Family will greet friends 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm Monday, January 22, 2018 at the funeral home.

Jude was born October 25, 1973 in Dubuque the son of Arnold and Thelma (Kingsley) Herrig. He married Amanda Kennedy on July 18, 2003. Jude began working at Menards in Dubuque at 16 years old and most recently the Front End Manager. He adored his wife and two daughters. Jude was an avid music lover and karaoke fan. He loved going to concerts, spoiling his girls, and taking his Wifey on date nights. Jude was a huge Minnesota Vikings Fan and attended several games with his wife and just recently took his daughter, Grace to a game. He always took an active interest in his daughter’s activities, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Jude had an infectious laugh and was a friend to all.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda; two daughters, Grace and Riley; siblings, Deb Herrig, Dawn Rannals, Denise (Alvy) Kennedy, Dean Herrig, Jon Herrig, Dan Herrig, Stevie Herrig, and Doreen (Andrew) Lightfoot; his mother in-law, Sandy Kennedy-Sullivan; sister and brother in-laws, Sara (Eric) Weiland and Joe Kennedy; 25 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives.

Jude was preceded in death by his parents; his father in-law, Pat Sullivan; his grandma Helen Czipar; and his grandparents Vincent and Lucille Kingsley and John and Mary Herrig.

The family would also like to thank the Staff at Finley ER and Chaplin for your care and concern during this time.

Mrs. Mark (Jacqueline) Kieffer, 86, of Dubuque, passed away Friday morning, January 19, 2018 at ManorCare Health Services.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the Church of the Resurrection, with Fr. Andrew Marr officiating. Veronica M. Steuer-Pfiffner

Veronica M. Steuer-Pfiffner, age 92, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully at 12:57 a.m., on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Dubuque Specialty Care, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Veronica’s life, funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., on Monday, January 22, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Church, 1880 Saint Ambrose Street, with Rev. Steven J. Rosonke officiating. To celebrate Veronica’s life, family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m., until the time of services at 3:30 p.m., on Monday, at St. Anthony’s Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Veronica was born on October 12, 1925, in Jackson County, Iowa, daughter of Nicholas R. and Agnes A. (Smith) Thill.

Veronica was a long-time resident of Dubuque, where she invested over 25 years of her working career with the Dubuque Packing Company. She found love early in life and would marry Cletus Steuer on September 11, 1948. They were blessed with several years together, and 3 children, before he was sadly called home ahead of her. Veronica would fortunately find love again with LaVern Pfiffner, and they would be united in marriage on May 12, 1990. Veronica was a faith filled woman who was a long-time member of St. Anthony’s Church, but she also enjoyed attending mass at the Church of the Nativity on occasion. In her free time, Veronica enjoyed traveling the country, as well as creating beautiful craft projects to share with family and friends. Veronica’s earthly journey has now ended, but we are forever grateful for the 92 years we had to spend with her. We love you, and will miss you tremendously, but take comfort in knowing that you are now resting peacefully in the arms of your loving Lord and Savior.

A Veronica M. Pfiffner memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.
