Emma was born September 28, 1924 in North Buena Vista, Iowa, daughter of Frederick and Anna (Zimmer) Link.
Our mom was an amazing fireball of energy and love. She managed her life to be just what she wanted. Mom was born in a log cabin. She played shortstop on a softball team, waterskied, danced the swing, and was seriously a great cook.
On May 3, 1947, she married Richard “Dick” Parkin at Holy Ghost Church. He affectionately referred to her as the “Sarge.” Somehow his solid quiet English nature worked with her outgoing German nature. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1998.
During WWII, she worked at the Battery Factory making batteries for the Armed Forces and later was a waitress at Leiser’s for over 30 years. She loved waiting on people
Mom and Dad had many fond memories going to Big Birch Lake and catching sunnies and bass.
Emma was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed feeding her flock. She also enjoyed quilting and being the boss player at Euchre.
Besides being an active member of Nativity Church, you could find her there every Monday night setting up the tables and playing bingo.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary (Marshal Martin) Parkin of Dubuque; a son, Tom (Micki) Parkin of Dubuque; Grandchildren, Drew Jessica and Ben Martin; Wes (Kayte) Parkin, Sarah (Jared) Ohrt, Brian Parkin and Rachel (fiancé Andy Heinz) Parkin; great grandchildren, Tyler Kiner; Adam, Jane and Seth Parkin; and Jayden and Maddie Ohrt. She is also survived by a sister in law, Ginny Link.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters and brothers in law Dorothy and Art Frommelt, Agnes and George Theis, Katie and Buzz Rupp, and Joan and Bernie Schmitt; brothers and sisters in law, Frederick and Pearl Link, Walter and Rita Link, Alvin and Beth Link and Roger Link, and four siblings in infancy, Ralph, Celeste, Mary Jane and Michael Link.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque, especially Tammy and Peggy; the nurses and staff at Unity Point Health-Finley, and Nativity Parish, especially Becky and Fr. Jim.

Daniel A Schriver
Daniel Arden Schriver, at the young age of 45, was taken from us far too soon on October 23, 2018, surrounded by his loving family, in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Dan was born in Dubuque, beautiful son of Michelle, adored grandson of Arden & Dorothy. 5 years later in Scottsdale, Arizona, along came his little brother Ian, and our family was complete. Mom and the boys moved to Florida in 1986, and a whole new adventure began.
Dan became the proud dad of Danny & Kennedy, proud uncle to Liz and Ella Grayce, brother-in-law to Adriayn, and great uncle to Iris. He went on to start his own business, and loved what he was doing. His customers are missing him already. Our hearts are shattered today at the loss of our precious Dan, but we take comfort in the fact that Dan is now free of his earthly ailments that he has faced with such courage and strength, and that he is now resting in eternal peace, probably having a beer with ‘gramps’.
The family would like to thank the professionals at Lawnwood Regional Trauma Center & Heart Institute, the University of Miami Life Alliance Organ Recovery Team, St. Lucie Fire Rescue, and the wonderful medical staff at Lawnwood for their compassionate care and concern. Dan saved two lives today with his generous donation of the gift of life. We are most proud.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

She was a good sport, and was always willing to accompany Dale out on the river fishing, but really looked forward to their date nights when they would go out to eat and then dance the night away. Above all, family brought Bev the greatest joy, she looked forward to any occasion to get everyone together, especially when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she made it a family tradition to get together all of the grandchildren and bake dozens of cookies to share with friends. She also had a sweet spot in her heart for animals, and was well known for having at least 2 dogs at all times. He was a hard worker and devoted his time and talents in the construction industry for several years, before his well earned retirement. Don was always a morning person, up at the crack of dawn, to join his friends at Hardee’s or McDonald’s, to catch up on the latest gossip and solve all of the world’s problems. Don was a people person to his very core, and loved to sit and talk with family and friends, but was always happy to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger and make their day a bit brighter. In his younger days, Don was a talented musician who loved to sit and play his guitar. He enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors and was an avid walker, his favorite walk being over the Julien Dubuque bridge, where he could enjoy watching the river roll by, as well as the cars and boaters passing by. He also enjoyed going to the dog track and casino, not to play, but just to watch others try their luck and root them on. Don was a kind hearted, generous man who was lucky enough not only to have 2 sons, but to find a soul-mate, Jimmie Miller, to share his life with, and he would accept and love her family as his own for over 38 years. Our hearts are broken today at the loss of such a wonderful man, but we take some comfort in the fact that Don is now free of the health issues he has faced with such courage, and is now resting in eternal peace.
